Monkey Jungle is a national park, in which monkeys live in as natural environment as possible. It is one of the few protected habitats for endangered primates in the United States and the only one that the general public can explore. The reserve is home to a total of more than 30 species of primates, including rare ones. Gibbons, gorillas, guenons, orangutans, baboons, lemurs, black capuchins, squirrel monkeys and spider monkeys are among them. Visitors walk through the caged trails while monkeys run loose above you and in the trees that line the sides. It is interesting to observe the skilled Java or Crab-Eating Macaques. In addition to eating fruits, flowers, insects and eggs, Javas also swim and dive for shrimp and crayfish. An interesting attraction, especially appealing to children is the feeding of monkeys. Peanuts and dried fruits can be purchased at the entrance. It should be mentioned that the reserve is the home to The Golden Lion Tamarin, native to the Brazilian jungle. Threatened with extinction, Monkey Jungle proudly participates in an international effort to save the tiny creature. Monkey Jungle remains one of the truly timeless attractions in South Florida. Visitors of all ages continue to enjoy an intimate glimpse into the experience that creates a lifetime of memories.
